Three Wise Men Specialty Coffee is a tribute to the birthplace of coffee.  The coffee plant, Coffea arabica, originates in Ethiopia.

According to legend, the 9th-century goatherder Kaldi discovered the coffee plant after noticing the energizing effect the plant had on his flock, but the story did not appear in writing until 1671 and is probably not entirely true, but who wants to get in the way of a good story. From here the arabica coffee beans began their long journey from Ethiopia to the rest of the world.

Why We Use Three Ethiopian Coffees in Three Wise Men

Three Wise Men is built to showcase origin character rather than balance through contrast. Ethiopia is coffee’s birthplace, and each of these regions expresses a different side of Ethiopian flavour. Together, they create a layered, expressive blend that no single-origin or mixed-origin blend can achieve.

We chose Harrar, Sidamo, and Yirgacheffe because they represent depth, sweetness, and clarity—the three pillars of Ethiopian coffee.

What am I expected to taste in 3 Wise Men as an Oat Milk Piccolo for example.

Ah, a piccolo with oat milk is a very specific and revealing way to experience a coffee like Three Wise Men. Here’s a breakdown of how this blend performs in that format:

• the piccolo size (roughly 90ml espresso + milk) concentrates the espresso flavours while keeping it approachable.

• Oat milk adds natural sweetness and a silky texture, enhancing the medium body of the blend.

• Result: smooth, creamy, and perfectly balanced for a single-shot experience.

• Flavour clarity: 9/10 – The floral, citrus, and chocolate notes remain distinct even with milk.

• Balance with milk: 10/10 – Oat milk’s natural sweetness perfectly complements the blend without overpowering it.

• Mouthfeel: 9/10 – Silky, smooth, and creamy in a piccolo format.

• Acidity & aftertaste: 9/10 – Brightness is soft yet lively; the aftertaste is clean and pleasant.

• Overall drinkability: 9/10 – It’s expressive, aromatic, and enjoyable for daily drinking.

The only reason it’s not a perfect 10 for me, is that some extreme specialty coffee fans might prefer a purer espresso shot to experience all the delicate Ethiopian high notes without milk, but for milk-based single-shot drinks, it’s fantastic.
