The Roastery Cafe
Wow…it has been nearly 13 years since Cirelli Coffee started roasting and selling coffee. To be honest, I was not really sure what I was getting into. I was largely driven by an interest, a desire to do something different and a love for coffee. This interest and love was one that I feel stemmed from my upbringing.
My Upbringing
As a child growing up, I was fueled by coffee. I recall always being surrounded by coffee…”I’d wake up to it for breakfast, being poured into a big bowl of milk, then finish a meal with it around lunchtime, celebrate with it in a tiramisu, and start and end a gathering with family and friends with it as an espresso”. Needless to say I was very energised as a child. I also remember dad, letting me spoon the bit of melted sugar and coffee at the bottom of his ‘tazza’ (cup), and mum pouring warm espresso over vanilla ice cream for a summer treat…and nowadays parents complain about kids drinking red cordial!
2011 – Hobby Roaster
What started as a small garage hobby at West Beach in 2011, quickly shifted to roasting for a small group of customers. The aim was as simple as trying to provide a taste of coffee that was traditional, smooth and more particularly, one that I was comfortable to share with others.
2013 – Purchase of 15kg Roaster
In 2013 due to demand we decided buy a bigger roaster to free up some time. After a big search we landed on a solid drum 15kg Giesen. The roaster was delivered in Decewmber 2013 to our small new home in Welland.
Still choosing to keep my customer base small and local, we were fortunate enough to supplying a small passionate range of cafe owners and boutique retail outlets. It was like a little family to me. We were all driven to by our own passion. Our cafe’s were spread across Adelaide. Some just served, some just retail and others choose to serve and sell the Cirelli range. Each and every cafe puts a huge amount of effort into their coffee. I work with all of them to get the taste they desire. But its not only the coffee they focus on…I have favourite dishes at all of them. A visit, a meal and a quick chat over coffee is something I always really enjoy, breaking up the monotony of everyday life.
2019 – Covid Turning Point for Cirelli Coffee
When COVID19 hit we were obviously forced to scale back but it was a pivital turning point for Cirelli Coffee. Our casual staff member ws in need of some extra hours so we went from Saturday and some roasting on Wednesday to 6 day trading servicing the local community. It was here our comfort in a 6 day trade was born.
2021 – Cirelli Coffee HQ – Roastery & Cafe
In December 2021 we moved to bigger premises at 568 Port Road Allenby Gardens SA 5009. Bigger, better, and bursting with flavour, our new premises offer a tantalizing experience from the moment you step through the door. With direct road frontage, it’s impossible to miss us, but the real magic unfolds inside.
